It wasn’t pretty, but the Greenwaves held on with a 12-10 victory over Oliver Springs.
If you like offense – big runs and long passes…well, this wasn’t the game for you. Both teams combined for only 2 touchdowns. Neither team was successful at passing…nor was either team successful at running outside the tackles. Basically, the game boiled down to 4 quarters of running between the tackles for both teams.
#3, Blake Bray, had his best performance of the year at running back. What offense was gained, was gained primarily by Bray clawing his way up the middle.
This was a defensive game and all of us have been told since little league that defense wins games…and that’s what won it for the green team. The Midway Defense did not allow a touchdown. OS got a field goal in the 1st quarter and their only TD came off a kick off return in the 4th.
Tanner Robison punched in 2 field goals giving Midway the edge on the scoreboard.
Congratulations to the Waves. This puts the mighty green at 2-1 on the season….next up….CAK!! Get’m boys! SOR! SOR! SOR!
