Week 2 Interview with Coach Moser

SORSN: What kind of player shuffling have you had to make to ensure that you’ve got the best 11 on the field now with all the injuries?

Craig: We have looked at WR’s Spencer Myers, Justin Pressley, & Andrew Davidson at QB. We have also looked at RB Daniel Bredwell at QB. We have looked at RB – Jason Crask, Daniel Bredwell, Blake Bray, Brock King, Sam Stansbury, Bryan Noland, Spencer Myers, Harley Davidson, Andrew Davidson, & Eric Stansbury.

If we had to play right now, our lineup would be (THIS MAY CHANGE AT ANY POINT):
QB – Spencer Myers
RB – Rotation – Jason Crask & Daniel Bredwell
Blake Bray & Brock King
WR – Rotation – Justin Pressley & Andrew Davidson
2 TE – Bryan Noland/Sam Stansbury & Matt Campbell

SORSN: What can he tell us about the Jellico team? What kind of offense and defense do they run? Players to watch out for…etc.

Craig: Jellico has a Sophomore based team with a small senior class. They have around 40 players. They run a multiple offense based out of the “I” wing. They also run some shotgun spread sets. Defensively they run both a 4 & 5 fronts with a 3 deep secondary (they like to blitz). They have good size up front. #22 and #9 have good speed. # 98 WR is tall and will go get the ball.

SORSN: After a hard loss last week, how are you going about focusing your players on this game?

Craig: I was wondering the same thing. However, our senior leaders stepped up and we have had some of the best practices we’ve had all year. I think the team is embarrassed about last week’s game with something to prove.

SORSN: With this being the 50 year anniversary of MHS Football, what are some moments over the years that stand out in your mind that best describe Midway Football?

Craig: Being in the 8th grade and scared to death before a home game, Squirrel in full pads ran from one end of the locker room, wide open, and smashed into the brick wall of the old locker room. Everyone was going crazy. I didn’t know whether to get fired up or sh$# my pants.

1988 – Round 2 – Cloudland @ MHS. Scott Carroll goes 100 yards on an interception return. Next series he goes 102 yards on a blocked field goal return. BALL GAME!!!

6 years old and not knowing there was a football game. Hearing Ed Rose on the PA from my parent’s house down Dogtown. Riding my bike to the game and playing (football) with all my pals every Friday night.

DCA (Donnellson Christian Academy) 1988 – I am still heartbroken and motivated.

SORSN: You were a player on the great teams of the late ’80s, how would you compare those teams to the teams of the past few years?

Craig: This is a hard question. The guys I played with and this group have a lot in common: work ethic, PRIDE, guts, teamwork, togetherness, confidence, toughness, will to win. I will leave it at that. GO BIG GREEN!!! 1954-2004

SORSN: I asked your junior running back, Daniel Bredwell, this same question – with some of key players out, has anyone stepped up to try to fill some leadership roles?

Craig: A lot of players have stepped up. As I stated before, we are not happy with our second half performance last week. I think this TEAM will step up and respond.

SORSN: Would you agree that SORSN.com (The South of the River Sports Network) is the greatest thing since sliced bread?

Craig: Yes, I would absolutely agree. SORSN.com, as RB/LB Jason Crask would say, makes me “sweat like a fish out of water.”
