Week 4 Interview with Coach Moser

SORSN: When we asked you before the season about looking ahead to the rematch with CAK, the team who upset the Waves in the playoffs, you commented to ask you about CAK in week 4. Now we’re here in week 4, so how big is this game for you and your team?

Craig: This game is the biggest so far. It is our first region game. CAK doesn’t respect our team, school, or community. It’s personal!

SORSN: What can you tell us about the CAK team in regard to their offense and defense? Who do you see as their biggest weapons?

Craig: Offense: They run a shotgun spread offense that passes almost every down. In the past 2 games they have thrown 84 times. Their QB # 3 is left handed and has a very strong arm. WR # 9 is quick and was their go to guy last season. WR # 25 is a new comer and is very fast. He is their leading pass receiver this year. # 41 is their primary runner and runs hard.

Defense: They run both 4 and five fronts with a 3 deep secondary. Their defensive line is led by # 74 (255 lbs.) and tries to control gaps. They have a good linebacker # 61 who led the region in tackles last season as a junior.

SORSN: Midway has always seemed to have big rivalries with “private” schools (Webb, Donnellson Christian, etc.) Do you see the CAK vs. MHS falling into that category now?

Craig: It’s hard to say. They have only had a football team for a few years and will move classifications next season. The main reason it’s a rivalry is they look toward us as lesser people.

SORSN: What do you think your team needs to accomplish in order to beat CAK this week?

Craig: Get heat on the QB. Control the line of scrimmage with our offensive line. Be more balanced on offense.

SORSN: Can you update us on the status of your injured players?

Craig: Jude O’Toole – Has been practicing with no contact & goes to the doc on Wednesday.
Jeremy Woody – Will play Friday
Brock King – Don’t know?
Butthead – Out Friday

SORSN: If you had to describe your team in one word, what would that word be?

Craig: C R A Z Y !

SORSN: As either a player in the ’80s or a coach today, do you have a pre-game routine or superstitions?

Craig: No superstitions. We try to keep our pre game routine as close to the same each week as possible.

SORSN: If a frog had wings, would it bump its butt when it hopped?

Craig: Only if eating apple pie. I like pie.
