Lyndsay Davidson:
SORSN: With losses stacking up in the first half of the season, the Lady Waves got much needed back-to-back wins over TSD and Kings Academy. What did you and your teammates do better in those 2 wins than in prior games?
Lyndsay: For me, I was tired of loosing and realized those two games were very capable wins if we played ball. I think the rest of the team did too. It all came down to shooting. That has been our downfall lately. Basically we just got out there and played ball like we knew we should have been playing all year.
SORSN: You look comfortable letting it fire from behind the arc. You also run the floor well in fastbreaks. Which do you prefer: Taking the ball to the hole on a fast break and getting fouled for a 3-point play or stepping behind the arc and nailing it in a defenders face?
Lyndsay: Mainly it depends on the pace of the game and the kind of defense the opponents are playing. If we’re trying to push the ball up the floor, I’m all about the three-point play, but if the other team is running a Box and 1 or man defense I would rather work to step behind the arc to nail one in their face.
SORSN: You’re little brother Logan is a mad-man in the little league, stealing the ball on one end and racing the other way for a short jumper. The two of you play the game very similar. He confesses the Fruit Loops and Capt. Crunch is what helps his game. Is this the same for you? Do you fight over the toy? Does Capt. Crunch scratch your gums like it does mine?
Lyndsay: What gets me fired up is knowing I am about to go do something I love to do and represent my school. Logan has the same desire for the game that I do and he just loves to play ball.
(Lyndsay dodged this line of questioning like a politician.)
Hannah Childers:
SORSN: As of late, you’ve greatly increased your offensive production. What do you contribute this to? Are you feeling more comfortable in taking the shots?
Hannah: Wanting and trying to get better in it. Yeah, I just don’t know why I don’t take more shots during the games. I think that’s my new goal!
SORSN: What has changed in practices since the beginning of the season to now? Is there an area that is getting more focus and attention now than earlier in the season?
Hannah: Not a lot. More focusing on defensive slides, rebounding, and a little more on offense. Oh yeah, and free throws.
SORSN: Are there any nicknames that you or your teammates have been given since the start of the season? Do the girls have a nickname for Coach Cawood? Assist. Coach Woody?
Hannah: No, not from the coaches. We just all call him coach. No nicknames. As for Coach Woody we call her Amy, Ms. Woody or Coach. We spend so much time together; some of us even tell her we love her when we are getting out of her vehicle just like our moms.
(Oh gag!)
