MHS drops both games to Wartburg

The Lady Waves, coming off back-to-back wins, had a weak offensive performance in the 2nd half and lost to Wartburg 53-24.

The Lady Waves went into the half down 30-16 and needed a big 2nd half but got very little. The Lady Waves came up with only 8 points in the 3rd and 4th quarters combined, dropping their record to 4-13 (including the Hall of Fame game tourney).

Hannah Childers again led the scoring with 7, followed by Nancy Sargent with 6.

Childers and Lyndsay “I Score By 3s” Davidson each had one from behind the arc.

The boy’s game was a showdown of 2 very good basketball teams. However, Midway would come up short in the final stanza and would lose 61-52.

The score was close at the half, 28-23, with Wartburg clinching to the lead. The Waves would pull a little closer in the 3rd, to be down by only 4 going in to the 4th quarter. But Wartburg outscored the Greenwaves when it mattered.

The Greenwaves had balanced scoring: Woody -14, Myers -12, Lloyd and Parkison each with 11. However, Myers has yet to get back to his 20+ points a night like he was having prior to his Christmas break siesta. (See what happens cuz!)

The Greenwaves will hit the road for Cosby on Friday night.

Boys Record: 11-5
