Interview with Settlemyer and Mundy

Kayla Mundy:
SORSN: The team has had several road games in recent weeks, playing at Sunbright, CAK, Rockwood, and upcoming games at Kings Academy and Wartburg. Those trips on the bus are sometimes eventful. Any funny bus trips stories you care to share with us? What’s your favorite food to take on the road trips? Favorite song/music to listen to?

Kayla: Subway Sandwich is my favorite food before a game.

Don’t really have a favorite song and I listen to most any kind of music.

We usually take cars to away games. However, the best road trip prank came last year when we were on our way to Cosby during the tournament. Lyndsay and Racheal told Ellison we put in some new plays. She had missed the practice before. They proceeded to draw them up and she was in tears.

SORSN: Which do you prefer: Kayla “Not this but next” Mundy or Kayla “I go to church on” Mundy?

Kayla: Kayla “Not this but next” Mundy

SORSN: The Lady Waves’ season hasn’t been as successful as one would hope. What changes/improvements do you think needs to happen in the off-season?

Kayla: More Skills practices, Jump Rope and Confidence is what we need before next season.

Kent Settlemyer:
SORSN: This year’s boy’s team has been a fun team to watch; primarily a fast paced team that runs the ball well. There’s been close wins, big losses, and everything in between. What is your favorite moment or play thus far this season?

Kent: I don’t really have a favorite moment. I love basketball season, so as long as we’re playing ball, I’m having fun.

SORSN: Your dad is an assistant coach; does he really know anything about basketball or is he just on the sidelines to “make the team look good”? What kind of advice does he give you? Has he ever told you that many years back he used to get schooled weekly on the basketball court in the Life Center at Shiloh by a certain member of the SORSN staff?

Kent: He really knows what he is talking about. He was really good in high school, or a lot better than me anyways. He mostly tells me the same thing, “Keep practicing your ball handling so that it comes natural, “Which is pretty good advise I just never practice it enough. He was more of a post player though and I don’t play post. The only thing I remember about playing at Shiloh was him doing the schooling.
(You’re memory has failed you young one. He got “schooled” early and often and sometimes even by a girl. Yes, that’s right, a girl. When he wasn’t being beat off the dribble, he would just simply cheat. We could never let him keep score…)

SORSN: Tournament time is approaching. Does this team have what it takes to do well in the tourney?

Kent: If everyone plays their very best in every tournament game I think we definitely have a good chance. I think we could go to state.
