Thoughts from a Visitor

Words can not express what happened at the Emerald Forest Thursday night. As the last few ticks ran off the clock it was as if you could hear the collective sighs from the Greenwaves of old saying “Thanks”. On the same field where Midway and Rockwood had played many times before and the last few ticks of the clock brought nothing but anger , bitterness, disgust and sorrow, now resounded with cheers of joy. No one will really know if the win means more to the team, or the Midway community but we are all proud of their accomplishment that seemed so illusive since 1989. Also my hat goes off to the Coaching staff of the SOR gang. No matter how many seniors Coach Moser losses he always finds a way to keep pace with the year before.

I would like to add that I only had one complaint, not with the refs, players, coaches, or the fine staff at SORSN.com but with the fans in the stands. Those seats are for sitting but it isn’t against the rules to get up out of them and cheer on your team. Football is a contact sport (or as Coach Branson would say “Football is a Collision Sport”), but is also a very emotional game. How can we expect these young warriors who pour their heart and leave it all on the field to dig down deep and make that Fourth Down stop late in the game. Or ask them to put together a late scoring drive for the win if we don’t show them we are behind them. Now I’m not saying that they should be shouting negative comments to the opposing team (we will leave that to the Fence Walkers) or giving obscene jesters, just stand up and let them know you care.
