After the exciting win over Sunbright Friday night, six of the ten MHS Lady Waves along with assistant coach Amy Woody were up at 5:15 am and then on their way to do some damage to the Shoney’s breakfast bar before heading to Wal-Mart to help with Operation Reach.
Operation Reach is a program to help underprivileged children and their families during Christmas. A child is allotted $100 to spend on gifts for members of their families. The children show up early with their family’s Christmas wish/need list in hand. Volunteers then aid the children with their shopping adventure. It’s a great experience to not only help these kids who come from a family with very little but also to see how selfless the kids are as they spend the money buying gifts for their brothers, sisters, and parents.
“We had 3 children that we helped shop then went to Rockwood Middle School to have lunch with the kids. After lunch we went to the gym to help them wrap their gifts”, Amy describes. “It was a true blessing helping these kids and watching our girls get involved. Thank you to the parents for letting your girls get involved with such a good program. You should be proud of them.”
