Lady Waves-Waves fall to Rockwood

Despite a valiant effort on the part of the Lady Waves, they could not take the lead from the Lady Tigers as Rockwood would win 37-25.

The Lady Waves hung with Rockwood for the majority of the game but Rockwood outscored Midway 10-4 in the final period to put the game away. Hannah Childers led the Lady Waves with 12 points. Defensively, it was the freshman, Kathryn Beard, who had 4 steals along with a couple of nice blocks.

Boys Game
Midway was ice cold in the 1st half and Rockwood built out a lead and would go on to win the game 48-32.

The Waves struggled to get a shot off against the Rockwood zone and struggled even more to get one to drop. The Greenwaves were scoreless in the opening 4 minutes of the first quarter before Woody knocked down a three. It was nearly another two minutes before they would score again on a 3 pointer from Settlemyer. #23 Langley would hit a 3 and a 2-pointer for 5 of the teams 13 points and the Greenwaves would go into the half down by ten, 23-13.

A forgotten diaper bag would force the SORSN family to return home at the start of the 3rd quarter so 2nd half coverage is minimal. So we’ll make up some stuff to give you an idea of how the game went as described by those who watched the game in its entirety:
Woody – 15 turnovers, 30 missed shots
Lyle – 5 airballs, 22 steals
Loyd – 4.5 fouls, 4 points
DeVries – nice socks

Everyone has their bad games; it was just unfortunate that the majority of the Greenwaves chose the same game. Rockwood was bigger, in both height and weight, in nearly every position on the floor. However, the Greenwaves will have a chance for revenge as they play at Rockwood on February 3rd.

Both the boys and girls games were broadcasted live on 96.1 WLNT Radio with “Marvelous” Mike Hayes being heard across the airwaves. The rebroadcast can be heard throughout the weekend as well as on the web at wlntfm.com
