Interview with Ryan Hargis

Ryan Hargis, Senior Lineman
SORSN: For those of us who do not travel by the Riverbend Market (“the junction”) on Friday mornings, please describe for our readers the scene and what all goes on.

Hargis: Well we get there and buy the ultimate breakfast sandwich, drinks, some red bull, go sit in the truck beds, listen to music and wait for the Mustang Guy.

SORSN: What other game day rituals does the team have?

Hargis: Me and the rest of the Seniors and Juniors get some dummies and lay down in the end zone and we always listen to Thunderstuck by ACDC.

Are the “dummies” Freshmen and Sophomores?

SORSN: The Midway coaching staff has better tans than the Hawaiian Tropic Girls. If you throw out Coach Owens because, well, he always has a tan; throw out Coach Campbell because, well, none of the Campbell’s ever have a tan and you just look at Coach Mo, Coach Gordon, Coach O’Toole, and Coach Walker..wow. Is there a tanning bed in the coach’s office? I’ll regret asking this but, do any of them have tan lines?

Hargis: There are 3 tanning beds in the field house and no, there are no tan lines..they tan NUDE. It’s their pregame ritual. (Coach Gordon and Coach Walker tan together)

SORSN: The Replacements, The Program, Remember the Titans, The Longest Yard, Friday Night Lights, Invincible, and Ruby are just a few of the great football movies. Which one is the best?

Hargis: I like Friday Night Lights. They are like us: they party hard and play harder… Just kidding

Uh, no your not.

SORSN: Have you ever performed the “Superbowl shuffle” in front of Coach Owens? If not, would you for $5?

Hargis: No I have not and I don’t plan on it. Have you ever seen him? I really don’t want to die. I might pay a freshman to do it.

SORSN: In all seriousness, what has Coach Owens meant to the line and the team this season?

Hargis: He changed a lot of things we did last year. I think he has made us better. He has a different coaching style than Coach Houston had.

SORSN: Have you seen game film of Coach Moser? If so what did you think? If not… hang around after the next home game….

Hargis: No, I would like to. I bet he was a beast. He is still bench pressing 300 lbs. I will be here after the next home game to watch film.
