SORSN: Coach, the defense struggled a bit very early against Harriman and an early score resulted in some quick changes by the defensive staff on the second drive. Much of the rest of the game was quite a bit different. Can you tell us what the coaching staff saw that resulted in the early adjustments?
Coach O’Toole: We didn’t change the defense that we were in. Coach Gordon, Coach Owens, and I all communicated with one another to fix the problems that we were having and the boys responded well. The hardest part of the problem was me and Coach Owens trying to understand what Coach Gordon was saying: “whoosh and doot doot”
SORSN: Coach, the kicking game has to be a bit of a concern right now considering the return yards that Harriman was able to get, and teams have elected to stay away from our dangerous return men on punts and kickoffs. Are there any changes in mind as we head late into the year? Ever thought of having the kickoff return team taunt the opponent with the chicken dance in an attempt to bait them into kicking to our return team?
Coach O’Toole: We tried teaching them the chicken dance but Coaches Gordon and Walker kept bumping and grinding on each other and that made everyone sick.
SORSN: Coach how much did it mean to look over at the Harriman stands and see about 59 people in the stands while the Greenwave followers packed in the visitor’s stands, hill side, and fence line?
Coach O’Toole: I think that we have some of the best fans in the state. It’s great to walk out every week and see the stands full.
I wish I could hit that tailgating on the hill before games but Coach Moser might get mad. Maybe if I brought him back some pie he won’t mind.
