The Waves face their most difficult region challenge this Friday as they welcome in Oneida (3-3, 2-0). Oneida has region wins over Coalfield and Oakdale, not to mention a 6-7 loss to Rockwood in the season opener.
Can the Midway offense continue its points production against a team that held Rockwood to one touchdown?
With last weeks pick of Sequatchie County, Mike has fallen into a last place tie with his older bro.
Let’s take a look at this weeks chatter from the Pick Panel.
“This week’s game is gonna be about defensive containment, and it’s gonna come down to who makes the big plays on both sides of the ball. I’ll put my money on the Green Boys. We’ve got more big play makers. I feel like the team is coming together and showing some confidence. I just hope they are not over confident. It could turn out to be our Achilles heel.
Let’s go Green!! Keep Rolling!!!”

“The highschool orange team will suffer the wrath of the wave machine. Keep the turnovers to a minimum and Midway wins in a washout. Surf’s up, boys.”

“For some reason, I have a bad feeling about this game for Midway….the Green has to be the favorite on paper to win this game at home, but as we all should know, that means nothing (just ask Florida and Auburn). Oneida is a solid team with a good defense and defense wins big games. Midway better be ready to play a tough, physical opponent for four quarters. Tighten up the chinstraps; Oneida is coming down to SOR to get a big win. I’ll take Midway in a close game.”

“Shawn, after last weeks pick Ed is seriously thinking of cutting Mike out of the Will. This week is Oneida and is the biggest game of the year so far. I burnt 12 hrs of vacation this Friday and I hope it won’t be wasted. This is the game the Waves can’t afford a let down. I’ll take Midway and if we play hard for 4 quarters, it won’t be as close as people think its gonna be.”

“A humongous region showdown game is brewing this week as the Indians from Oneida travel the curvy path from Highway 27 down to Highway 72 in hopes of setting up their victory teepee in the Emerald Forest. Oneida comes off a victory over Mindy McCreary Central, while the Waves are emerging from a big homecoming win last week over AA Sequatchie County. This one should be a dandy.
As always, Oneida is a solid defensive football team behind Chief of the Reservation, Coach Lambert, and will present a much more difficult test than the last few weeks for the Waves. Oneida’s defense held the vaunted Rockwood team early in the year to one score and has not given up more than two touchdowns in any game this season. The Indian defense is solid and will test the Wave offensive line. The Tribes offense is solid, if unspectacular, and could reach into their bag of tricks looking for a couple of game breaking plays this week. The special teams, as always for Oneida, is a strong point.
The Green Team has been on a roll lately, led by the score-from-anywhere combination threats of Ray2 and The Raven. Coach Moser and his coaching staff really have the Waves hitting on all cylinders right now and could be on the verge of a very special season. The offensive and defensive lines are controlling the lines of scrimmage.
A lot is at stake here, with the winner of this game sitting pretty in the regional standings and the loser left with some work to do to get into the playoff dance.
The trendy pick on some of the popular message boards is that Oneida is ready to chunk a tomahawk that knocks the Midway team from its lofty perch. This week I say…………………… not so fast my friend.
Whatever green Kool-Aid Coach CMo has the Midway team drinking right now, send some my way, as I am on board this week with the Big Green Thrashing Machine rolling on for another week. Midway simply has too much speed for Oneida. Give me Midway in a good one… “
