Last time the Lady Wave softball team traveled to Oliver Springs, they found themselves in the fight of their lives. This time the game turned out to be anticlimactic. The Green team jumped on the Lady Bobcats, scoring four runs in the first inning, and the girls from SOR never let up. Lady Wave pitcher Hannah Colyer looked sharp again, allowing only a couple of hits, which came late in the game. Colyer allowed only one run, while striking out five batters.
Alex Coffman started the Waves off early, slapping a double down the third base line. Lacey Davidson singled to score Coffman. After two walks, an error by Oliver Springs, and a couple of force outs, Haley Parks hit a sharp single to left field to drive in two runs. The Bobcats ended the inning with a force out at third, but the Lady Waves had batted through the lineup.
Oliver Springs couldn’t muster any offense. Colyer brought the heat and center fielder Kystral Rue caught a long fly ball to end the inning for the Bobcats. In the second inning, the night just got longer for the Oliver Springs pitcher. The inning included an error, three walks, and a hit batter. Then, sophomore Haley Parks hit a three-run double that scored Paige Moree, Kati Alexander, and Ainsley Presswood, who was running for Colyer. Krystal Rue then grounded out to first on a very questionable call. Freshman Taylor Narramore singled, but Parks was thrown out trying to steal home.
Colyer had faced only four batters in the first inning and would see only three in the second. Another deep fly ball to Rue, a strikeout, and a force out at first ended the inning for the Bobcats.
Midway would hold the 8-0 lead through the fourth inning. In the fourth, the Lady Waves’ cause was helped by a big double from Colyer. The Waves would cruise to 15-1 win and hold a 2-0 season record. Haley Parks’ bat remained on fire, as she went 4-for-4 with one walk in the win over Oliver Springs.
