Back on Track

The Lady Wave softball team bounced back on Thursday, recording a 12-2 victory over a much improved Greenback team. A week ago, Midway thrashed the Lady Cherokees, 27-1. Since then, the Greenback coach had made many changes to his young team.

Midway held a slight 3-2 lead entering the fourth inning, but exploded in the bottom of the frame to stretch the lead to 10-2. The SOR girls would extend the lead in the bottom of the sixth, thanks to doubles by Lacey Davidson and Alex Coffman. That would end the game and give the Lady Waves a final score of 12-2. Michele Walden, Taylor Narramore and Krystal Rue combined for a very good showing, allowing no hits and no earned runs, while striking out three batters.

Midway remains undefeated in District 3A, with a record of 6-0. The Green will be looking to capture another District Championship this week, when they play the Harriman Lady Blue Devils twice in three days. Harriman is also undefeated in the district. The Lady Waves will visit Harriman on Tuesday at 6:00 PM and host the Lady Devils on Thursday at 6:00 PM. Midway will have a busy week, with two non-district games also scheduled. The girls play at home against McMinn Central on Wednesday at 5:00 PM. The Lady Waves will get a second shot at Knox Webb on Friday at 5:00 PM at Midway.

The Green Nation would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Lady Waves 1st baseman Katie Alexander on the death of her Grandfather, Marvin Gribble. David, Tammy, and Katie, we wanted you to know that you are in our thoughts and prays and that we miss you terribly.
