The Midway Middle School Jr Waves hosted Sunbright Thursday night. The Waves got behind early but rallied in the 2nd half but it wasn’t enough, as Sunbright would live SOR with a 22-6 victory.
The Sunbright Tigers was simply bigger & faster than the Jr Waves; however, that did not stop the Waves from fighting till the very end. It was all Sunbright in the 1st half but the Waves started to still the momentum in the 3rd. A 35+ yard pass from QB Christian Moore to Mason Woody was the highlight of the game. The Sunbright corner back was all over Woody and would be called for pass interference but that did not stop Woody from going up and taking the ball away. Woody would go down just inside the one. Shandon Lyle would punch it in to give the Waves 6.
But the game was over-shadowed by the injury of Midway’s Beason. The young man took an awkward hit, dislocating his hip. After about 15 minutes, the medics were finally able to get him loaded and transported to the hospital. Thankfully, this green warrior is at home and doing well. The difficult task now shifts to his parents who must try and keep him off that leg. And if you know Beason, you know being still is not in his vocabulary.
