Week 3 Pick Panel Predictions

Folks, it doesn’t get any easier for the boys in Green this week as they travel to Pikeville to face Bledsoe County. Last year Bledsoe came to the Emerald Forest and left with a 29-13 victory.

This year…..Bledsoe are making their own waves. They are 3-0 with wins over 5th ranked Coalfield (36-33), 14th ranked Marion County (47-22), and Grace Baptist (41-0).

The Waves are 0-2 but had a good showing at Harriman. Harriman was bigger & faster…but someone forgot to remind Midway of that. For the 2nd straight week, the score was tied at 14-14 entering halftime. The Waves started the 2nd half with the ball and drove down the field behind the offensive line that was pushing the Blue Devils (as well as Shaquille Love) in the opposite direction. However, the Waves failed to score on four downs and turned the ball over to Harriman on the 1 foot line. The Blue Devils scored 3 plays later; stealing the momentum and the game away from the Waves.

Can the Waves make the long bus ride and pull off the upset? Let’s ask the Pick Panel…..

James Randy Rose:
Another tough matchup this week on the road. The Greenwave continue to improve and a win is coming, but I’m going with the Warriors in a close one at home.

Michael Rose:
The last time I was near the Bledsoe County area was earlier this summer. A visit to Fall Creek Falls State Park in Pikeville should be a trip that every East Tennessean puts on their calendars. While the scenery was fabulous, the golf that I witnessed that day was not. JR Rose and I spent the good part of an afternoon spraying Titleist golf balls all over the back 9 at Fall Creek Falls Golf Course. The golf was so bad; JR Rose spent more time in the woods hunting his golf ball than we did hiking the Falls later that weekend. It’s a great trip, I highly recommend it. The golf, well, maybe better next time. What I can not recommend, unfortunately, is a Green Wave victory this week. The Green Team reportedly has made some strides in the last couple of weeks and is very close to having a break out performance. I think this team gives a good effort this week, but Bledsoe appears to be a talented squad. Give me Bledsoe

Barry Narramore:
Yes they can! I’m on the Greenwave bandwagon!!! This team is improving and refusing to lay down. If this team finishes two, start of the second half, drives in the last 2 games, they could be 2-0. Bledsoe Co barely beat a so-so Coalfield team, and Marion County must not be much after a 64-0 beatdown by South Pitt. Dillon Davidson has emerged as a go to receiver for Viar who has been impressive in the last two games. The Green Defense has to improve and get some stops. I think they will and give the Bledsoe boys a surprise like we did down there two years ago.
GO GREEN!!!!!!

Ralton Emory:
Can’t see us going on the road and picking up this win. However, if the mighty Green put together a complete game and “learn how to win” with an upset this week, it could swing the momentum for the entire season. Let’s go Green!

These Warriors aren’t as built as the warriors from “300”, but they could star in their own Capital One commercial… 🙂

Bledsoe 30, Midway 14

Amber Johnson:
I gotta go with Bledsoe County on this one. Have you been over the hill and down in the valley? They don’t have anything else to do over there but play football.

Kyle “Catnip” Canup
Well i was pretty pumped Friday night when I saw Midway was playing some serious ball against Harriman, but it just seems like that fire got lost and they wasn’t playing ball like they were in the 1st half. I am glad to see they played a lot better this past week but they just can’t seem to get over that hump and really start winning. I’m taking Bledsoe County this week and maybe this is the week they turn it around. Wouldn’t bother me to be wrong. “Can-do” Canup? Really Shawn?
