The Midway Green Waves came up big in a 12-0 shutout over the Oneida Indians on Thursday evening. It was a beautiful day for baseball, and senior pitcher Josh Manning turned in a beautiful performance from the mound.
Facing 17 Oneida batters, Manning racked up a whopping 14 strike outs. Manning and the Waves had a no hitter going in the fourth, when it was broken up by one of only two hits that the Indians managed to get on the day. Manning also allowed no walks.
Midway’s offense provided more than enough support to gain the victory. Helping his own cause, Manning went 2-3 on the day, including a two-run homer in the second inning. Other big hitters on the day included Jonathon Barnett (3-3, 2B), Christian Moore (3-3) and Logan Davidson (2-3).
