Game 3 Picks

The Green Waves didn’t fare well at Whitwell last week. A waterfall of turnovers led to a 6-37 loss for the Waves. This week, Midway remains on the road as they travel to Byrdstown to face the Pickett County Bobcats. Last year, the Waves defeated Pickett County 52-6, snapping a winless drought.

Will the Bobcats once again serve as Midway’s rally game? Let’s ask the panel.

It will be another long road trip for the Green Wave on Friday night. I am sure the focus in practice will be hanging on to the football. I still have faith that these young men will turn things around. The Green Wave will pick up their first victory of the season on Friday night with a 20-6 win over Pickett County.

This should be a good rebound game for the Greenwaves. Pickett County (0-2) this season hasn’t won a game since they played Oakdale in the 2009 season. Midway needs to stay focused for this game. Both sides of the ball need to pick up the tempo. Playing smart / turnover free football is the key to winning any ballgame. I’m picking Midway to win this matchup against the Bobcats from Pickett County with a score of 24-6.

The Waves will get their first win of the season, that is, if Pickett Co. has not stumbled across “The Art of Recruiting” by Grace Christian Academy. Highly unlikely. The boys from the south will get that much needed confidence boost this Friday night.

WARNING Coach Speak: Win the battle in the trenches and eliminate the turnovers – you win games.

Hopefully, the young Waves can do just that this week when they travel to take on the Lynx Rufus of Pickett County. The 331 state ranked Waves need a confidence boost and having a battle against the 337 ranked bobcats may be just what is needed. However, it will not be easy.

Travel legs and fatigue will be an issue for the Waves again.

This week is gut check time. Will the Green team pack it in or shake off the 0 -2 start and put another beat down on the Pickett County Bobcats? I’ve been around Midway Football for 46 years. What Greenwave players lack in talent they make up for in heart. I’ll take the young Waves by 20 with Lyle having a breakout game, Woody and Shanahan showing out on defense and Hayden Hester sending at least 2 to the hospital! Go Big Green!!!!!

Unfortunately the Waves lost last Friday night to a team I thought they would get a W from. Turnovers plagued the Waves again and they fell behind. However I think the waves get their first win this year and hopefully some composure for the rest of the season.
