Panel Goes Green for Game 3

This Friday, the Waves (2-0) host Hancock County (0-3). The Waves are coming off a bye week while the Hancock Indians are coming off a heart-breaking 1-point loss to North Greene. The Waves, along with Barry Boo Narramore, are 2-0 to start the season for the first time in several years.

Last year, the Waves squeaked out a 38-32 victory over Hancock. But this year’s team has higher expectations. The Waves had a shootout with Whitwell two weeks ago; winning 53-50 in an offensive free-for-all. The Waves were plagued with senseless penalties, including at least 2 personal fouls. Penalties….and personal fouls… have become very common for the guys in green.

Will the week off prove helpful for the Waves? Can Midway control their emotions and put an end to senseless penalties? Will the Midway Defense which has given up 73 points in 2 games take another week off? Let’s ask the panel.

Kyle Canup: There is definitely room for improvement on defense. The Waves were def. hitting well but there was a lot of big plays given up on the ground. The Offense knows how to find the end zone for sure and I don’t see that stopping anytime soon. I think the waves will notch another victor and improve to 3-0. Although there may be some small hiccups on the field you can’t be nothing but impressed on how well Coach Campbell and these Waves have come along.

Ralton Emory:
After the defensive struggle in the Emerald Forrest two weeks ago…

Just kidding. When the score seems to be better suited for a final in basketball, we know where we need to improve. We shouldn’t have to ask if someone got a triple-double for the game.

Sometimes you hear someone say in coach speak, “A win’s a win!” While Whitwell was a win, I hope the adjustments have been made to improve our issues before we move into district play. With the off week to recoup and adjust, this week’s game versus Hancock County should give us an opportunity to test those adjustments.

The 0-3 Indians have a test against the Waves. Traveling from Sneedville will not be pleasant, trying to find a way to win on the road will not be easy, and coming into play a team who is well rested and ready to prove they’ve improved will be the nail in their coffin. On top of all that, the Waves won on their home turf last year and now they have to play in SOR.

I really don’t see a way for Hancock to win, but again, Midway is not the powerhouse just yet. We will win, but not dominate.

Midway 38, Hancock 24

Amber Johnson:
I think Midway will keep the wheels turning this week hosting the Hancock County Indians. From the stats, Midway is in dire need of some defense. Hopefully, week by week that defense will develop. I think the Midway high scoring offense will be able to overcome the deficit on the other side of the ball. I’ve got Midway in another close one.

Steven Sears:
Nice 2-0 start for the Greenwaves. Looks like we may need to make a few adjustments on defense, but we got the win and that’s what counts. Coming off a bye week Midway should be rested and ready to go. I like the Greenwaves in this week’s matchup against Hancock County. The offense needs to keep doing what they’re doing and the defense needs to step up and make some stops. Midway stays undefeated this week. Midway 28 Handcock 22.

Boo Narramore:
First of all I’m not sure what “Going Boo Narramore” means exactly but maybe my ole friend Mike Rose should of “went” last week since he’s fallen off the leader board in this pick panel race after incorrectly picking against the Green.

This week’s game with Hancock County hopefully will not be a repeat of last year’s tight game. Midways offense is clicking but last week the defense forgot to show up! I believe Coach Campbell will get on top of that and they make a better showing this week. Give me Midway by 2 touchdowns! Go big Green!!!!

Webster Dictionary:“Going Boo Narramore” or “Boo Narramoring” (verb)
: Picking the Midway Greenwaves regardless of who they are playing.
Examples of “Boo Narramoring”:
”Midway plays Maryville this week and everyone down at the junction was Boo Narramoring.”
”Grace at Midway? You dang right I’m going Boo Narramore this week!”

Michael Rose:
I pick whomever Boo Narramore picks.

Due to last week’s essay of a pick, Mr. Rose has been placed on a 144 character count probation.
