Love is in the air for game 7

The Waves are coming off a win over Harriman on what may go down as the greatest game in Midway history…okay, I may be exaggerating a little but it was exciting nonetheless. The win puts the Waves at 5-1 on the year as they welcome in the most hated team east of Nashville, the undefeated Rams of Grace Christian Academy. The Rams have bulldozed their way through all opposition; leaving everyone wondering if the TSSAA will ever get the classification right, or will Grace University continue to rack up undefeated seasons year after year.

It will be an uphill battle for the Greenwaves and one the players welcome. It’s one of those games where as a coach, you’d love to pull off the upset but you also want to be able to walk-away from this game without any injuries…or ejections. Last week against Harriman, the Waves once again had senseless penalties and again some of the 15 yard kind. Will they ever learn to keep composure? Let’s hope cooler heads prevail this Friday night and the guys in Green conduct themselves in a way that those on the hill will be proud of.

Let’s pass the mic over to the Pick Panel for what could be some quotable picks this week.

Kyle Canup:
I’ve not wanted to make this pick all season. When I hear Grace, I feel my skin crawl and I would love to see them lose to the waves, but unfortunately for Midway the rams haven’t lost all their scholarships and have recruited some fresh talent the past few years. They may have lost a few players to some local colleges lately but most have decided not to forgo their senior season and stick around. Maybe TSSAA will figure out this classification thing sometime but until then we will have to play them and whether they win or lose I hope the Waves make Grace leave South the River with a bad taste in their mouth. I would like to see Midway pull off something special but I think Grace will take the win. I just got a sick feeling from that, and if the waves do win I’ll get a Barry Narramore commemorative tattoo.

Steven Sears:
Glad to see that Midway was able to take care of Harriman last week. I wasn’t able to attend the game, but if I heard correctly, we won on a game winning field goal! That just shows how important having a good kicker is and with all the close games this year, I bet he will be called upon again. This week brings a huge challenge for the Greenwaves with Grace Christian University coming to town. Midway will have to play very smart football this week if they are going to have a chance to win. Quit making the silly mistakes and quit getting the senseless penalties. Clock management will be key factor as well. Although I am confident these guys will make us proud by playing their best, I think it will not be enough to pull out the victory. All that I ask is that everyone plays with confidence because you all do have a good team and you could potentially get the upset. Midway 14 Grace Christian University 42.

Ralton Emory:
While I would love to go with Boo this week, I just can’t see this happening for the Waves.
Grace U Sheeps 35, Midway 21

Amber Johnson:
Grace. Unfortunately.

Barry Narramore:
First of all I want to know when Mike Rose became such a comedian? I already know when Kyle became such a smarta..! When he was born! What an exciting game last Friday against Harriman and the crowd, reminded me of 2005. And all the beautiful homecoming queen candidates. Just a great night SOR all around. The game was a thriller and who’s this kicker Splawn? Splawn is quickly becoming a South The River Rockstar! Two game winning kicks in consecutive weeks….how crazy is that? Also have to mention the play of our defensive ends last week Seth Colyer and Gage Patterson; both players made several great plays. The cousins are shaping to be pretty dynamic players and also crowd motivators. Good job Boys.

This week is the recruits of Grace Christian. My love for Grace has been growing for years but who on this year’s panel will stay with the Greenwaves? We know Michael can’t; that would jeopardize his chances of being Deacon Mike. Anyway I may be on a limb all alone this week but after last year’s great first half against Grace I think the Green is gonna pull off the upset of the year and put ole Boo and the Boo-man-chu on the Cat-boo-seat on this pick panel. Go Big Green!

Michael Rose:
Week 7 shows the Waves coming off an outstanding effort in the win against the Harriman Blue Devils. It also reveals that the pick panel is tightly bunched at the top, with one game separating the entire field. The stretch run right now looks difficult, starting with this week’s matchup against Grace, which is a tough task for the Waves. After total green agreement last week, we are likely to see some differing pick going forward on the panel.

Also how about a shout out to SORSN.com’s CEO, editor, lead photographer and general good guy, Mr. Shawn for his outstanding real time facebook feeds from the Emerald Forest last week. You guys let Mr. Shawn know how much you like his work.

Sorry guys picking Grace this week.
