Pick Panel Split, sees 50/50 shades of green

What another thriller in the Emerald Forest last Friday night. Trailing late in the 4th, Midway (6-2, 2-2) put together a drive in the closing minutes to defeat Meigs County, 15-14. This Friday night the Waves hit the road to visit county rival Rockwood (6-2, 3-1). The Tigers are coming off a 20-21 loss to Tellico Plains; a team that also defeated Midway by 1-point.

Can the Waves pull off a victory at the Tiger’s den? Let’s ask the panel.

Amber Johnson:
Midway has been coming out on the winning side of these close games the last couple of weeks. I don’t know if their streak is going to continue. The stats project Rockwood to win this week, and they have had our number the last few years. However, I am a gambler by nature and like to roll the dice. Let’s go Waves rolling over the Tigers.

Boo Narramore:
Random thought, just who SOR went out on a limb and provided Ro Co’s finest with a reference so Kyle could be a cop???
Hugh district win for the Greenwaves last Friday against Meigs County. Whoever thought Meigs would be a pushover sure doesn’t remember the Tigers of the 70’s and 80’s. Midways passing game was off last Friday and the Tigers defense hemmed Lyle and the running game up as well as any team we have seen this year. Can’t say enough about the catch made by Jon Beason for the 4th quarter TD. Sports Center quality! Great effort Jon! Also Midway’s defensive front line had a great effort last Friday. Somebody must have pissed off Defensive end Gage Patterson off because he was an animal in the second half!

This week is Rockwood vs Midway for the Roane County Championship. I checked with Roane County news sports editor Sir Goose Lindsey and he said that yes this game is for the County title!!! Not sure when, if ever, we have been in the county title race! But we are this year!
After checking the Roane Co news tonight I see only the cat is picking Midway, Coacht doesn’t show a lot of positive thinkers for the Greenwaves. But I think that cat knows something others don’t and I’m going with him. Give me the Midway Green 21-20

Kyle Fife:
Man I guess Midway prefers to keep the crowd on the edge of their seats and I’m sure it’s probably put a few more gray hairs in Barry’s mustache. Rockwood is Midways Florida to UT we just can’t seem to get the job done when we match up with them, but this year could be different as they are evenly matched. If Midway comes out playing to full potential they could take one away from Rockwood. I know every one watching sure would like to see Rockwood lose to the Waves. I think Midway takes this win in a close one but that won’t be surprising. Midway 24-20

Steven Sears:
I’m glad to see that my prediction for last week’s game was wrong! I honestly didn’t think it would be as close as it was. Midway continues to keep the fans on the edge of their seats with all the close games this season. This week brings another huge challenge for the Greenwaves. Rockwood is coming off a surprising loss to Tellico Plains last week and it comes to show that it can be anyone’s game in high school football. Playing at Rockwood is definitely a disadvantage for Midway, but with it being an in-county rivalry, it should be an exciting game. Maybe the key to some of the Midway wins are my bad predictions. This week I’m going to continue to use my reverse psychology technique in hope that Midway can pull out another victory. Rockwood 35 Midway 21.

Ralton Emory:
All I can say is ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!!!!!????!!!?????

If anything, the Waves know how to raise the blood pressure and heart rates of those attending their games. On previous pick panels, I have always missed this game because I allow my emotions to take over and I go “Boo” and pick Midway even though my head says Rockwood. I want to do the same thing this year, but alas, I will not. Although it will be close, another tense one. Prove me otherwise guys.

Rotwood 21, Midway 20

Michael Rose:
Waves on the road to Rockvegas this week to take on the Tigers, with most of the district pecking order still on the line. Rockwood is a tough place to play, especially this late in the year. I will take the Tigers and a blue plate special from Juniors Restaurant this week.
