Midway offense rolled last week over Lookout Valley, tallying 53 points against the Tigers. I wasn’t there but rumor was the Waves scored 21 points in 1 minute and 23 seconds….this could very well be a school record. Can Boo Narramore confirm? Much of the offense’s high performance had to do with the success in Midway’s special teams. Midway’s Jose “The Boot” Coronilla successfully executed 2 on-side kicks on the night, including the opening kickoff, and he even recovered one himself.
This week the Waves (1-2, 0-1) will face a much tougher opponent in the Oneida Indians (2-2, 0-1). It’s been several years since the Waves and Indians have played each other. In fact, no one on the current rosters have been a part of this classic matchup. Oneida has wins over Oakdale and Meigs and losses to Greenback and King’s Academy.
So can the Waves get their first home victory of the season against this new region opponent? Let’s ask the SORSN band of misfits….
Barry Narramore:First win for the Greenwaves last Friday night, late late Friday night!!!! First came the downpour and then came the beat down as Maniac Moser and the Green offense ran wild over the outmanned Lookout Valley Yellow Jackets. 41 First half points later the reserves put the finishing touches on the game. Midway dominated the whole game for a much needed victory.
I’ve said it before, the Greenwaves are a better team than 1-2 record indicates. They seem to be fairly healthy for the fourth game of the season and injuries are always a concern for the Green team.
This team is gonna upset somebody and I believe this Friday could be that night. I’m going with the Green team 21-20!
Kyle Canup: I’d like to see Midway get the win but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. Oneida has played some good teams and has two losses from down good talent. I know taking Oneida is against all things green but to make it worse I’m making this pick at the homer himself Barry Narramore’s house. Oneida by three scores.
Ralton Emory: Big test for the Wave team. Can they win the game? Yes! Will they win this game? I’m thinking they may go the way of the Volunteers on this one – build a lead and let it slip away late.
Oneida 24 Midway 20
Michael Rose: Oneida. Unrelated note, who does good ink work SOR?
