The Midway Green Wave will hit the road again for a third straight week and head up highway 27 to Coal Hill Road to face the unbeaten Yellow Jackets of Coalfield. The Waves are coming off a disappointing 2nd half performance at Rockwood where frustration led to a fight and now the Wave will be minus several starters who are serving a 1-game suspension.
Coalfield is 3-0 on the season with lopsided wins over Oneida, Wartburg and Greenback.
Let’s see if anyone on the Pick Panel will play the odds –
Tyson Canup (1-2): Tough loss last week, and hate to see our players suspended. Hopefully we learn to control our emotions and retaliate with putting points on the board.
This week some underclassmen will see some playing time and have an opportunity to show their skills to everyone. The yellow jackets are on a roll and I expect that to continue with a win over the waves this week, 35-12
Chris Barry (1-2): It’s always hard coming off loss to a hometown rival. And now the loss of some key starters to a in game scuffle. Now its time to head up the mountain and take care of business. It’s time for second stringers to step up. O’Toole is gonna pull his hair out on this one haha. It’s gonna be a dog fight but let’s keep it in trenches this week boys. It will be a close one but The Big Green will come out on top. 20- 14 with a TD winning drive in the last minute to win the game. Let’s go Waves!
Travis Jackson (0-3): What was already an up hill battle quickly became a trip up Everest with the suspensions. The green heads up the mountain to face a undefeated Coalfield team and I believe I’ll get my first pick correct this week when then Jackets stay undefeated. Coalfield take the win.
Jason Lloyd (1-2): The Waves are in a tough spot this week. They’re coming off a loss, on the road for the third straight week, and down some players due to suspension. I just don’t think they will be able to “Tool” together a win with the odds stacked against them. Coach Ruffner used to say, “Always wear black pants.” I think the team in black pants wins big Friday night, 42-7.
Ethan Crabtree (0-3): Last week was a tough one to watch some of our boys get suspended and see the moral fall drastically. Hopefully, this week, the younger players will get some fire in their bones to go give their all for the Green Waves! Sadly, I think the loss of starters will help propel Coalfield to a win 42-14.
Barry Boo Narramore (1-2): I love to go to the fights and see a football game break out. Midway is gonna be short handed this Friday night but I see Coalfield overlooking the Green boys. Give me Midway by 1. Go Green!
