SORSN Pick Panel: Game 2 vs. Red Boiling Springs

The Midway Greenwave are coming off a good win over Sale Creek last week. The game did get a little chippy and it was not without incident. Brennan Reed was ejected early from the game after picking up a second personal foul and Brandon Brown suffered a scary injury. Sale Creek’s QB was also ejected in the second half after picking up a pair of personal fouls. Thankfully, Brandon’s injury was not severe and should be returning soon to the team. Reed unfortunately will serve a 1-game suspension and miss the home opener this Friday with Red Boiling Springs.

Despite a few mistakes, there were a lot of bright spots in the game. Senior transfer Wyatt McClure stepped in at QB and the former RoadRunner went 10 of 11 with 2 TDs, connecting with Tate Mason and Peyton Steele on the dance floor to help lead Midway to the 33-18 win. Freshman kicker John Messi Hladis also provided excitement for the Waves, connecting on 3 of 4 PATs and often pinning the Sale Creek offense deep in their own territory to start their drives.

Red Boiling Springs is coming off a 53-0 win over Sunbright. Last year, Midway defeated the Bulldogs 19-6. Can the Waves start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2018? Luke Hall had our most accurate prediction last week with a prediction of a 34-8 Midway win. The final was 33-18. Will the Panel see all Green again this week? Will Travis take everyone on the Panel out for an evening cruise down Watts Bar for Labor Day? Let’s ask the Panel their thoughts on this weeks matchup –

Luke Hall: The Greenwave started week 1 with a bang 1-0, some minor mistakes were made and I believe Coach O’Toole and staff will be able to correct those mistake to get ready for the Bulldogs. I also heard Coach Burton and Coach Satterfield asked Little Debbie for more Oat Meal Crème Pies this week, some of the kids were complaining that Coach O’Toole didn’t share the 25 boxes from last week they sent. Greenwave drown out the Bulldogs 40-6, Little Debbie also doubles down on their Crème Pies this week #feedthekids #LILDEBBIESPONSORED

Ralton Emory: Red Boiling Spring Bulldogs looked like the Georgia Bulldogs against Sunbright last week. This week I believe the Waves bring them back down to earth a bit.

However, I don’t think it will be as easy of some of the Green Maniacs expect. Waves need to clean up the mental errors but still play with intensity.

Green Team will go 2-0, but it won’t be easy.

Midway 21
Puppy-Dogs 18

Travis Jackson: I have to admit, seeing the Red Boiling Springs vs. Sunbright score of 53-0 initially raised my concern. However, checking last year’s result of 61-0 against Sunbright reassured me—it’s typical for a Sunbright game. The Bulldogs seem to have a strong line this year and favor a powerful running game. That said, accurate info on single-A schools is tough to come by. Unlike some, Midway has SORSN and a bunch of has-beens. Giving SOR access to comprehensive coverage. Nevertheless, I’m backing the Big Green to handle their business this week and give the Bulldogs a loss. I’m predicting Midway 36, Red Boiling Springs 12

Tyson Canup: Red boiling springs had the faucet wide open last week, but Midway is not Sunbright. I look for a big change in their performance this weekend and that flow is slowed to a trickle.

Green gets through undefeated so far.  18-12.

Barry Narramore: About the only thing I know about Red Boiling Springs is that in around 2016 we traveled a long way and kicked their butts! So after a solid opening night victory, I look for the Green to be 2-0 by Saturday morning. Midway 35 Red Heads 13.
