Crank up Big Willy Style because it’s Homecoming! Tonight the Bobcats of Oliver Springs Academy High School Prep University travel to the Emerald Forest. OS (5-1) have several impressive victories this season including wins over South Pitt, Harriman and Rockwood and their only loss of the season was a 1-touchdown loss to Kingston. Midway (4-2) have cruised to victories these last 2 weeks over Sunbright and Jellico, allowing for some much needed rest for the starting rotation.
The smell of Versace….I mean Axe Body Spray lingering from the locker room will be strong tonight but will the Midway performance on the field be stronger? Let’s ask the Panel who gets the W.
Ralton (6-0): Let’s talk region play. The Waves will take on the Oak Ridge, err, I mean the Academy of Oliver Springs Bobcats this week. The Academy of OS is an enigma this season. Loses to a down Kingston team and destroying Harriman after Harriman beat Kingston. Weird. Midway is coming off a big non-region win over Jello-Co. They’ll need to play disciplined ball to win this week. Can it be done, yes. Should it be done, yes. Will the Waves do it, hopefully, but I’m going to say they fall short. Academy of OS 21 Midway 20
Tyson (4-2): Oliver Springs verses Midway, a contest between two small communities in Roane County. OS has the obvious advantage being near Oak Ridge and the population center there, but population doesn’t win football games. It’s heart that matters, you have to want it more. The waves want this one, we need this county win. Waves by a little, 22-18
Travis (5-1): The Bobcats head into the Emerald Forest aiming to maintain their impressive season at 5-1, with a perfect 4-0 record in the region. Known for their tough, hard-nosed style of football, Oliver Springs will look to dominate the ground game and exploit any weaknesses in Midway. Meanwhile, Midway is coming off a solid win last week and hopes to build on their improved play. The Greenwave will need to keep mistakes to a minimum and get the ball in the hands of their playmakers to challenge the Bobcats effectively. Despite my loyalty to Midway, I’m predicting a narrow victory for the Bobcats: Oliver Springs 35, Midway 26.
Luke (4-2): The Oliver Springs kittens left a sour taste in our mouth last year, calling timeouts late in attempt to put more points on the board late in a not so favorable Greenwave game. I know for a fact that sour taste hasn’t left any of our players/coaches yet. They have worked hard over the last 2-3 weeks to put together a game plan to try and put the kittens to bed this week. I’m gonna ride with my Greenwave this week in an offensive shootout. Greenwave 35 Kittens 27
Barry (4-2): Midway’s offense is hard to slow down! This will be game of the week. I’ll take the Green and in a close one.
