The Midway Greenwaves (5-3, 2-3) host the Harriman Blue Devils (5-3, 3-2) tonight in a crucial region matchup. It’s also senior night for several great Midway student-athletes. The Blue Devils have some big wins this season including 37-0 beatdown of the Rockwood Tigers in addition to the season opener win over Kingston. Let’s ask the Panel their thoughts on tonights big game.
Ralton Emory (8-0): There’s a playoff smell in the air as we come down to the final weeks of the season. Everything hinges on the Waves vs. the Harriman Indigo Demons in a county matchup and an even more important regional matchup. The Waves can’t have a losing season, but it will leave a bad taste if they don’t pull out this win because their playoff hopes live or die this Friday. Fortunately, Midway’s strengths mirror Harriman’s strengths. Speed and athleticism at the skilled position are the highlight of both teams. It will come down to who wants it more. Playing at home will be an advantage for the green team. I believe their grit will be tested. And truly this game could go either way. Give me Midway in a close one. Waves 35 Indigo Demons 33
Tyson Canup (5-3): Harriman on the road at Emerald Forest…. The Blue Devils absolutely destroyed Rockwood two weeks ago. The outlook for the Greenwaves to come out on top with a W is narrow, but not nonexistent. These boys will have to play like their season depends on it these next two weeks to close out district play strong. I’m hoping they come out strong. Midway 16 Harriman 12
Luke Hall (5-3): Let me break it down in the best way I possibly can. Harriman is coming of a massive win vs Rockwood. Midway is coming off a win vs greenback. Both teams have tons of speed across the field. Both teams need this win to improve their playoff seeding. I think Midway has more speed across the field but I think Harriman could possibly have the fastest player on the field. Contain Harrimans speed and you win this game. I’m gonna trust that Justin O’Toole coming off a bye week will win this game with terrific game planning. Midway 35 Harriman 21
Travis Jackson (7-1): Two games remain to determine if the Greenwave will make the playoffs, but the matchup against Harriman is the critical one. Both teams are 5-3 and have faced common opponents, setting the stage for a closely contested game. Can the boys from south of the river step up and secure their playoff spot? Midway has more at stake this Friday, which is why I believe they’ll edge out a win in a hard-fought battle. Defensive play and turnovers will be key. Final score: Midway 23, Harriman 21.
Barry Narramore (5-3): The Greenwaves will have their hands full this week with a strong Harriman bunch. Some of the best games I’ve seen Midway play have been against the Blue Devils. I think the home field will be the difference. Give me the Green. 27-24. Go Big Green!
