Greenback came over to MHS, the heart of all things SOR, looking for a needed win – they came away empty handed. The Greenwaves jumped out in front to start the game and never relinquished the lead. The final horn sounded with a 54-37 Greenwaves victory.
Justin “Have You Seen Elvis” Pressley had a great game on the defensive end as he stayed glued to Greenback’s very quick point guard. Obviously Justin’s recent buzz cut, thankfully removing the 2″ fro, improved his aerodynamics allowing him to stick to his man.
Rip Van Winkle himself, Spencer Myers, played well by taking the ball to the rim all night but he once again added onto the gym with his B-R-I-C-K-S from the foul line. Myers played the passing lanes well and had many steals leading to fast breaks. One of which Myers attempted a dunk but came up about….oh…about 2 feet short and blew the easy 2 points. Seconds later, Spencer found himself on the bench with Coach Ruffner. Ha!
Parkison played good D as well and played the role of the thief as he continues to lead the team in steals, averaging just under 3 per game.
Matt Crabtree has steadily improved in his post play. The big man is running the floor well and is coming up with more rebounds. The Greenwaves continue to run a spread offense, limiting Matt’s touches on the block. If Matt continues to take the ball up strong, I look to see the big man get more touches down low in a set offense.
Greenback played their typical type of ball against the Greenwaves, physical and dirty. The Green Team kept their composure and kept the visiting Cherokees frustrated the majority of the game.
Congratulations Green Team!
