Week 2: Interview with Spencer Myers

SORSN: A career high 32 points for you on Tuesday night against CAK. Players who have had similar performances describe it as being “in the zone”. A feeling that basically everything you shoot is going in; the basket seems 3 times bigger and that you can’t miss. Were you “in the zone” Tuesday night? Describe what you were feeling.

Spencer: I was in the zone. It felt like my eyes were always on the goal, I couldn’t hear anything, not even BOYD WOODY or MY MOM, and I was just feeling it.

(You were able to block out Boyd AND your mom!!?? Those of us in the stands would love to know how you were able to do that! That has to be dang near impossible!)

SORSN: You injured your shoulder by slamming into the door on the baseline. Tell us about your injury.

Spencer: Well the doc. says it’s a deep muscle bruise but, expect me to play Friday cause I WON’T miss this game.

(Well, you better bring it cuz.)

SORSN: You must have hit a big growth spurt between the football and basketball season. The football roster has you listed at 5’11 150lbs. The basketball roster has you listed at 6’1 170lbs; a gain of 2 inches in height and 20 lbs in weight in 3 months. Can you explain this enormous transformation?

Spencer: Well it should be 6’1 155. If you don’t think I am 6’1 call Nanny and tell her to look at the wall.

(For those who don’t know, Sybil Rose, better known as “Nanny”, keeps up with the height of her grandkids on the wall in her kitchen.)

SORSN: The Waves play Greenback on Friday night, a fun but hostile environment to play in. Besides home, where is your favorite place to play?

Spencer: CAK cause their rich and they have a good floor and you can jump good on it….even though I don’t like them.

(I would agree, CAK is a great place to play. Especially when they have the band going in the gym.)

SORSN: Thanks to your dark colored hair combed forward and straight across your forehead, it’s been stated that you resemble “Floyd”, played by Jim Carry, from the movie Dumb & Dumber. What actor or character do you feel you most resemble and why?

Spencer: I do resemble Jim Carry because he does and says crazy things like me. I like any Jim Carry movie, especially Ace Ventura.

(Obviously “Swivel Hips” has a great knowledge of fine cinema.)
