Waves Win, Who’s Next?

The Waves continue putting up big points with an easy 51-0 win over Jellico in the 1st round of the playoffs.

The Waves were up 27-0 before the 1st quarter ended. And it didn’t get any better for the visiting Jellico team. I wish I could write about how exciting the game was and so on..but frankly, I got nothing. Jellico came out of the halftime and agreed to set the clock for 8 minute quarters to finish out the game rather than the scheduled 12 minutes.

Blow outs such as this, Midway’s 3rd in a row, has enabled the offense to work on their passing game as well as get some younger guys some playing time. Blake Bray, Midway’s primary running back, dressed out but did not play. Rumor has it that he may have suffered a slight concussion in practice. With Bray out and Bredwell seeing limited snaps due to the score, Freshman Eric Stansbury #17 got much of the carries and he did not disappoint. Eric “Peanut Butter And ” Stansbury rushed for 2 touchdowns on the night. “Swivel Hips” Myers padded his stats with another interception, that’s 8 on the year.

The Waves will face Coalfield in the 2nd round. With Midway’s last 3 games being their easiest opponents of the year, it’s very important the Waves don’t come into the game against Coalfield flat-footed. Midway shut out Coalfield earlier this season so the Jackets will be hungry for revenge.

When trying to recap the stats of the night, I asked who all has scored to which the Fence Walkers replied, “Everyone but Jellico”.
