Coach Craig Moser
SORSN: What can you tell us about Silverdale Academy?
Craig: They are the Seahawks. They are well coached and have a good QB and skilled guys.
(Obviously Coach Moser has been working on his politically correct, short-answer, don’t give them something to post in the locker room, style of answering.)
SORSN: The Waves looked a little flat to start the Oakdale game but began to speed up the tempo in the 2nd quarter. We received an email from a visitor which I posted on the site from a fan talking about the lack of fan support during the games. How helpful and how needed is that twelve person, the crowd, to this team?
Craig: It would be great. We have a large crowd at each home game and we are thankful. Sometimes it seems that the crowd cheers against something, not for the team.
SORSN: The late Mrs. Nell Fine and Mrs. Mary Waldroup were recently added to the Legends for being such faithful and energetic fans. What are some of your memories of these two ladies? What are some of the other “energetic” Green Wave fans that come to mind? How much are fans such as these missed in the stands and sidelines today?
Craig: I remember them more in basketball. They were always so positive. They were positive toward our team and our coaches. They made us feel good about ourselves.
SORSN: Now that you are into the 3rd week and have 2 wins, are you seeing any changes in the quality level of the practices or with the teams overall confidence and energy?
Craig: Execution was a lot better this week. The team was loose and it looks like we are building some depth.
Coach Justin O’Toole
SORSN: Special teams have seen some success in its return team but the coverage teams in both punting and kickoffs have been mediocre at best. Tell us about the focal points in practice and if any changes are being made to try and improve the kickoff and punting coverage teams?
Justin: We have a few changes in mind but are trying to give a few guys chances to make plays. I’m glad that the return game is working well but everything we do is designed to score so if we can ever put it all together we could be very dangerous on special teams.
SORSN: We give out the SORSN Helmet Award and the Domino’s Lineman Award to players. Is the coaching staff feeling left out? If we had a weekly award to give to a member of the coaching staff, what should it be and who would have been the week 2 recipient?
Justin: Coach Gordon – Speech Contest Winner
SORSN: You support a nice, clean cut hair-do, comparable to former Wave and SORSN Best Hair Award winner Cody “Did I Shave My Head for This” Turpin. Have you ever thought of growing it out, perhaps seeking the services of Master Barber Jason “Big Daddy” Johnson? If we were able to model a wig after Coach Mike Hayes’ hair, would you be interested?
Justin: Big Daddy cut my hair a few years ago I told him to make it look even all over and all he did was cut on the sides not on the top so that’s when I got the hint that I might as well get used to being bald. If I get Hayes hair does that mean I got to get the Hitler mustache also?
SORSN: The Green Waves are expected to run over and through Silverdale Academy. What have the practices been like this week and how difficult is it to keep the team on their toes when they have a long road trip against what is expected to be an easy opponent?
Justin: Silverdale is a fairly new team with football but they are improving each week from as much as we can see on film. Hopefully we can bring a little SOR fire to Chattanooga and take care of business.
