Interview with senior WR, #23 David Langley.
SORSN: Flashback to this time last year: The Waves, 2-0 on the season with wins over Rockwood and Oakdale, travel down to Chattanooga to get what is expected to be a “gimme” of a win. However, Silverdale Baptist Seahawks, a small private school with enrollment of 160 students, did not hand over a win. In stead they pulled off a huge upset. A quick check with our stat keeper and pick panel expert, Ralton “Mule” Emory, tells the story: 12 possessions, 1 touchdown, 2 punts, and 9 turnovers. Is this a game the Waves have been looking forward to?
David: Yea, we have been looking forward to this game a whole lot. Not only them being private, but them beating us last year makes it a must win. We feel as if we have something to prove and show them true Midway football.
SORSN: The Waves have struggled thus far this season with penalties and other mental mistakes. What have been the topics of discussion this week in practice?
David: We have to cut out all of the mental errors we have been having. We have to stay focused.
SORSN: Coalfield comes to the Emerald Forest next week. Is it hard not to try to look ahead to Coalfield?
David: I don’t think we are looking ahead this year because we have something to prove against Silverdale. That may have been the reason for the performance last year.
SORSN: Get us a typical description of what the locker room is like at half-time with Coach Moser?
David: We rest at first and discuss what to do to finish the game with a win.
SORSN: Give us your favorite quote/ impersonation of the coaches.
David:
Coach Moser: Walking around with the first pumping when he is fixed up
Coach O’Toole: PAIN!
Coach Houston: Drive Cupcake Drive; Come on Ashton, don’t stand there!
Coach Davis: Yes, Seth ball is in motion; Poe is the Z receiver, Seth.
Coach Gordon: BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
