Week 4 interview with the Coach, Coach CF Moser, Head Coach Midway High School Greenwave..
SORSN: First off Coach, congratulations on the big victory over Silverdale on Friday night, your second win in a row on the young season. Tell us a bit about what went right for the Greenwave this week.
Craig: We were focused and got off to a good start
[SORSN Translation] We were able to play our 2nd and 3rd string, I’d say we did almost everything right.
SORSN: There had to be a bit of extra motivation for the Waves after the disappointing loss last year to Silverdale. How hard was it to get the Greenwave going Friday night?
Craig: Not hard at all. The boys were embarrassed about last years performance and had been looking forward to this game for a long time.
[SORSN Translation]We had to prove to those private school preppies that last year was just a freakish thing, Hell must have nearly froze over.
SORSN: Coach the early part of the season is over and you have emerged 2-1. The Rockwood game was certainly more competitive than the final score and with a couple of different plays here and there could have been much different. Any surprises from the first part of the season?
Craig: Not Really. We thought we could have a good team. Although we haven’t played as good as we can yet.
[SORSN Translation]Surprises? 325 penalty yards at Rockwood, a close game at Oakdale, O’Toole found a woman that would marry him..
SORSN: The defense has looked strong in the first three games while the offense and the passing game has struggled at times. Speed looks abundant throughout the lineup. Do you shift your focus a bit from what you have learned early in the year or stick with what you have practiced throughout the summer?
Craig: Come and find out on Friday night.
[SORSN Translation] Dear Lord, please help us in our passing game.
SORSN: Coach, the sweat of summer is turning into the cool of the fall and it is time to get down to business this week with Coalfield rolling into town. Do you sense a change in attitude heading into this week? Do the players understand the importance of this Friday night and the next couple weeks which basically can make or break a season?
Craig: Our team has prepared well each week. They are a mature bunch. Our players understand the importance of every game. Each region game is important, none more than any other.
[SORSN Translation] Yes they know because you idiots have been talking about it since spring training.
SORSN: Coach we know you have gotten some feedback that maybe these interviews have been used as bulletin board material in the past and your preference is to keep your answers a bit vanilla, however the SORSN.com following is a loyal and football wise group. Please understand that as journalists (and darn good journalists at that) we have a responsibility to our subscribers/readers (non-paying as most of them are) and sometimes are forced to ask some difficult and probing questions. It has been said around SOR that Coalfield has replaced some teams from your era (Meigs County, Kingston, etc.) as perhaps Midways biggest rival. Can you give us anything from the inside the locker room about the bituminous rockheads from Coalfield?
Craig: I don’t know if Coalfield is our biggest rival. Coalfield is always a top team in our region. If you are a competitor, then good teams bring out the best in you. Hey B.L. is that a good answer?
[SORSN Translation] I’m not sure what the heck “bituminous”means but I like the way it sounds..
SORSN: OK Coach we give up and will let you off the hook there..let’s shift gears and get your opinion on some things here. Please choose from the lists provided.
