Summer Interview with Coach Moser

SORSN: Take a trip down highway 72 and its obvious there’s a lot of work being down on and around the football field. What have you, your staff, and others been working on this summer?

Coach Moser: With the help of Coach Wheaton, Everet Massengill, Volunteer Electric, and many others we now have new lights on the field. These lights are state of the art and the metal poles are set back off the field with underground wiring.

With help from the Midway Quarterback Club we have worked on both the practice field and the game field. We verti-cut and top dressed both fields and the grass looks great. Also, we will have a visitor’s bench and piping to go around the top of the fence (HEY FENCE WALKERS – GET LOUD & ROWDY!!!!).

We also are getting a new scoreboard. The larger board will be placed off the field on the North end.

SORSN: Did you consider SORSN.com’s needs in any of these improvement projects? Do you want to know our needs for future projects?

Coach Moser: With the world wide attention that SORSN.com demands, the football staff at Midway High School is always considerate of the needs and interests of this quality site. We would love to hear the needs of sorsn.

SORSN: Perhaps a cherry-picker for some great aerial photos. Equipment and connection so that we can offer live, streaming audio and video across the site of the games. Perhaps the QB club can work these two items into next years budget.

SORSN: How have summer workouts been going?

Coach Moser: Good. Turn out has been good and we are in decent shape at this time. Decent – not good

SORSN: Not to put you on the spot but, based on what you’ve seen thus far this summer, who has made the biggest improvements in the weight room and overall fitness since the 2006 ended?

Coach Moser: A lot of guys have done well. Just a few: Ryan Hargis, Will Poe, Ray Robinson, Matt Oliver, Quinton Pressley, Eric Stansbury, Neo, Dayne Britt, Jesse Lackner, and others.

SORSN: Coach Walker was not present at camp last Friday. Do new hires get vacation time? Are Coach Walker’s golf outings interfering with his coaching responsibilities? Do we need to have a sit down with Coach Walker? Does Coach Walker also remind you of Burt Reynolds?

Coach Moser: Apparently, I need Coach Walker to negotiate my vacation contracts. He gets more time off than yards that coach Hayes mows.

We need to get sorsn.com to investigate who is the best golfer: Coach Walker or Coach Gordon. This is an ongoing argument.

I think an interview with Coach Walker is a must. Coach Walker reminds me more of J.R. Reynolds.

SORSN: What kind of changes can we expect from this years team vs last years?

Coach Moser: Faster, playing more players..come and watch and see other changes

SORSN: Is it possible to have Seth Lyle dress out just to return kicks?

Coach Moser: We have contacted the TSSAA about this and we have changed Seth’s name to Seth Van Winkle. Look for the Van Winkle name on the back of his jersey and hold your breath.

SORSN: Okay, the biggest question that I have….what’s up with the 2007 schedule? Opening up on August 24th, a Friday night at Clairborne County? Is there a reason we’re not opening up on Thursday night against Rockwood? Is there something good on TV the night of the 23rd that I’m not aware of?

Coach Moser: It was an agreement between the two schools that we would have the game on Friday for the next two years for certain reasons. The scheduling was messed up when a team dropped us and we had to scramble and pick up Claiborne week 0. Rockwood will also play Oneida on week 0.
