SORSN: Coach, congratulations on the win last week over Oakdale. The offense put up 55 points. Was it one of those games that the team needed as a morale booster?
Coach Moser: It was our first region game and it was important we got off to a good start. We played with a purpose.
SORSN: Did you play calling change any during the game with the 4-horsemen, Stansbury-Ray-Poe-Davidson, each making such big plays?
Coach Moser: The Special Teams play allowed us to call the plays we wanted. The OL did a good job of opening holes. We adjusted a little when we saw what Oakdale was doing on D. Execution and “want to” was the key.
SORSN: Fortunately for you, you didn’t hear Coach Hayes’ half-time performance on the PA. Isn’t there some stipulation in his contract preventing him from trying to be funny?
Coach Moser: A man with too much time on his hand can be dangerous. If anyone in SOR has any jobs that Coach Hayes can do, please let him know at the next home game.
SORSN: Let’s now turn our attention to this week’s game against OPEN. What can you tell us about this team?
Coach Moser: We need to work hard and stay focused. We don’t need a let down.
SORSN: I looked back and didn’t see them on the schedule in recent years. Is this the first meeting between the two teams?
Coach Moser: My junior year, we played TMI week 4. My senior year (fall ’88) TMI didn’t have a team. We played OPEN. We only lost 1 regular season game that year and that was to Kingston. Maybe this will be a good omen.
SORSN: After watching your team perform these last 3 weeks, do you have any concerns regarding this game against OPEN?
Coach Moser: Special Teams, Conditioning, Timing, Assy eating, Field House Cleanliness, Coach O’Toole forgetting he is a football coach, Coach Steve getting soft, Coach Woody losing footballs, BEING PHYSICAL, Teamwork, Leadership, Rod Run, just to name a few.
SORSN: Coach Moser, do you feel that your team may be looking ahead to Coalfield and not focusing in on this week’s opponent?
Coach Moser: We are focused on ourselves this week. We want to get better each week.
SORSN: Given the latest picks by Mike “Corso” Rose, do you have anything you’d like to say to your past teammate?
Coach Moser: Michael, remember fall of ’88 vs Vonore. A slew of Blue Devils had a skinny Midway sophomore TE down giving him the number. A senior jumped in and helped his comrade up and gave Vonore the advice to “look at the scoreboard”. I thought we were team mates for ever, brothers for life????????
Thanks for your time Coach and go big green!
