Interview with Quinton Pressley

SORSN: When were you told that you would be the starting QB against Harriman and what was your reaction?

Quinton: I laughed because I hadn’t thrown or taken a snap since the scrimmage against O.S. and I wasn’t even sure it was possible.

SORSN: Despite your right arm also being heavily wrapped, you still threw the ball a few times on the night and threw accurately. How do you respond to the comments that with Stansbury out, the Waves can not throw the ball?

Quinton: It don’t upset me too much because anyone who was at the game I think would disagree with those comments. I guess I’ll try to respond every chance I get to pass.

SORSN: The Midway Green Waves are in the quarterfinals for only the 3rd time in school history. What does that feel like? When you lay down at night, what goes through your mind?

Quinton: It feels good to be the only team around here that gets to play Friday night. It’s hard to go to sleep at night all week because I kinda play out the game in my head.

SORSN: You are one of the hardest hitting guys on the team and though the stats may not show it, you are responsible for a lot of the Green Wave touch downs all season long with your blocking on both offense as well as kickoff/punt returns. Tell us about one of the hardest hits that you’ve delivered.

Quinton: I can’t really choose one that I liked better, but one that I know Coach Mo loved was one last year at Oneida. I was a receiver and I actually made the corners feet go above his head.

SORSN: Your fellow linebacker, Chris Barry, wears a neck roll from what looks like the 1970’s. Do you know why he may have opted for the retro neck roll rather than the collars that you commonly see players wear today?

Quinton: I believe the neck roll is indeed from the 70’s. I think it was passed down from Coach Gordon because Gordon didn’t have much use for it due to the fact that he doesn’t really have a neck; one that we can see at least.

SORSN: Final 8 in the state, what do the Waves need to do to make it into the final four?

Quinton: Get off the ball, no penalties, timing and play to win

SORSN: It was very cold last Friday night and would expect it to colder this Friday night at Hampton. Former Green Wave lineman Wendell “Cupcake” Pressley would often put his hands down his pants in order to stay warm. How do you expect to stay warm this Friday night?

Quinton: The only thing that bothers me is my hands and feet. I don’t really do anything about that so I’ll just tough it out I guess, but that’s funny about Cup because I think I saw him high-fiving Coach O’Toole shortly after.
