SORSN: Recap the changes and additions to the staff during the off-season.
Coach Moser: Coach Walker got a job at one of the plants in Oak Ridge and is no longer helping. Coach Steve Stansbury is on active duty with the United States Marine Corp. and is scheduled to go to Afghanistan. We have added Coach Joe Campbell and Coach Jeff Brantley. Coach Campbell is a Math teacher at MHS and a graduate of MHS, Lifelong SOR resident and football and baseball player. Joe will be working with our OL and LB and will be assisting me with Offensive preparation. Jeff Brantley is working with our OL and DL. Jeff is a Kingston graduate but now has his heart right and lives SOR
SORSN: Did Coach Walker leave his tanning bed?
Coach Moser: Coach Walker left the football team and staff many things but his tanning bed wasn’t one of them.
SORSN: Give us 3 words that describe the team thus far.
Coach Moser: Uhh – Hmm – Ohh
SORSN: You’ve gained a good reputation for developing players. A perfect example is a kid that came out of the band section to become one of Midway’s biggest scoring threats of all-time. Do you see the makings of a “diamond in the rough” on this year’s squad?
Coach Moser: Yes, I see several kids that have the ability to be break out players. Come watch on Aug. 28 @ Wartburg and see who. Wakon you are a marked man. TIME TO SHINE
SORSN: New quarterback, new running backs…….if you had to play tonight, who would start at these positions?
Coach Moser:
QB – Thomas Viar
RB – Matt Oliver/Aaron Collins
RB – Jack Henderson/Caleb Butler
SORSN: Has the 2009 team set their goals for the season? If so, can you share them with the sorsn.com viewers?
Coach Moser:
1. Coach O’Toole remember that games are on Friday’s 2. Coach Campbell not get lost in his game of Hiding GO Seek 3. Coach Gordon not to iron his shorts.
4. Coach Brantley to stay on schedule.
5. To make it through a season with a radio in the Field House.
SORSN: Looking at this year’s schedule with new teams, do you see a potential new ‘rival’ for the Waves?
Coach Moser: Harriman – Grace – Greenback – Rockwood – Tellico
SORSN: Noticeable missing this year is the game against BYE. A favorite among the sorsn pick panel members. Can you tell us why this opponent was dropped from the ’09 season?
Coach Moser: They refused to play us. We are trying to get a scrimmage with OPEN though.
Thanks Coach and good luck to you and the team this season. Go Waves!
