All but one picks Midway

The Sequatchie County Indians, a 2A school from Dunlap, roll into the Emerald Forest for a first-ever meeting between the two schools.

The Indians are 1-4 with 3 of their losses coming by 8-points or less. Their only win was the season opener over Pigeon Forge, 19-13.

The Waves rolled over Coalfield last week. The Waves did nearly everything right. Can they repeat that kind of performance for Friday night’s homecoming? Will the players be focused on the game at hand or Midnight on Dogtown Road? Let’s take a look at how the pick panel feels about Friday’s game.

“There’s nothing worse than a Homecoming dance after a loss, and I’m sure the Sequatchie Co. Indians would like nothing better than to come down to the Emerald Forest and go on the war path. So boys….let’s circle the wagons, and put on your dancing shoes. The Greenwave win in a wash out.”

“If the Waves stay focused and execute, they win; if they get distracted by “homecoming” they don’t. I’ll pick Midway, but the Green Team needs to stay grounded otherwise this one slips away.”

“What an enjoyable night in Coalfield it was. I swear I felt 10 years younger and 20 lbs lighter leaving that Mountain with such a convincing victory. But I’m afraid that score will put a bull’s eye on our back for the rest of the district to aim at. Harriman and Oneida will be ready.

Against Coalfield our boys laid their hearts out there and that’s what you pay your money to see. Keep it up Midway. As for this weeks game, if our boys play with heart like last week, I think we’ll be fine. Give me the Green.”

“Need to stay focused and stay on track or the Dunlap boys will take one away…..I’ll take the SOR boys again.”

“Can someone tell me why we are playing Sequatchie County? Aren’t they the team that Kingston (oops sorry politically correct term Roane County High) used to battle annually in the playoffs back in the late 80’s? As I recall a story once relayed to me back then, they used to turn the lights off on the field and race onto the field at the beginning of the game by a fire truck (possibly true, possibly not)…

This game worries me a bit for the Green Team: a Double A team with close losses, homecoming night, middle of the season, huge blowout win last week against a district rival, next weeks showdown with Oneida looming. This has all the makings of a trap game for the Waves if they are not focused and absolutely ready to play. On the other hand, Coach CMo proved us wrong in the first game of the year with Claiborne County.

Ummm, I hope I am wrong but I take the Sequatchie County Indians.”
