Midway (0-2) will host the Pickett County Bobcats (0-2) this Friday at the Emerald Forest.
The Waves are coming off a heart-breaking loss to Whitwell and continue to struggle with youth and inexperience at several key positions, including the defensive line and backs.
Pickett County, located along the Kentucky line, is coming off a thumping at the hands of the Oakdale Eagles. With one win in their last 2 seasons, the Bobcats are trying to rally around their young quarterback and get confidence into the program.
Will the Waves learn from their previous weeks’ mistakes? Is Viar’s leadership and arm enough to lead the Waves to their first victory? Or will Pickett County erase all hopes by handing the Waves their 13th straight regular season loss?
Let’s hear from the pick panel.
Ralton Emory:
Someone will come out of the Emerald Forest this Friday night with their first win of the season. Can the Waves overcome their fear and play like the talented team they could be? I think this could be the week. They’ll win, but they’ll try to lose. Let’s hope they don’t. In a close one, give me the Waves.
Midway 3 Pickett County 2
Randy Rose:
Pickett County has been known for their girls basketball program. But this is football, so give me Midway to get the win.
Barry Narramore:
Don’t know much about Pickett County but I do know Midway boys and I know this bunch wants to win as bad as anybody. I predict Viar will throw 3 TDs this week, Moore will run back another kick-off, and we will see a running back hit pay dirt also. Give me the Green by at least 14!!!!!
Michael Rose:
I will take the Green Machine to get up off the mat this week.
Kyle Canup:
Last week’s loss was heart breaking because I thought the waves were gonna pick up their first win. They had their spots when they looked really good. I saw some young talent that looked good and that can only mean good things from here on out, and if they limit their mistakes they’ll be pretty whole. I think the Waves will get their first win Friday night
Amber Johnson:
From the sound of Shawn’s game recap from last week; there was some improvements made. There was some good offensive drives early in the game before a change in momentum. With the outcome of this game this could be Midway’s 13th loss in a row. I don’t know about the readers, but 13 is my lucky number. Midway is gonna turn it around and reset the count. Give me Midway on top of Pickett County.
