Interview with Matt Jarvis

SORSN: First of all, congratulations on the win over Kingston Tuesday night. You had a good game, knocking down some big shots. Tell us about that night. What was it like in the locker room before the game, at half-time and after the game?

Matt: The locker room before the game was actually normal like every game. Just music playing and the players getting stretch and ready to play. But at halftime. Everyone had that focus and determination that we were gonna win. The locker room after the game was crazy. Everyone was up yelling and clapping. I couldn’t hear myself think. But I really didn’t need to think.

SORSN: The team played smart basketball for all four quarters. Typically, you play like your practice. Did you have a sense following Monday’s practice that the game would go that well for the Waves?

Matt: Honestly Monday was a terrible practice day. But we tend to forget about a bad practice and get excited for the next game.

SORSN: Coach Ruffner is known for being enthusiastic and Tuesday night was no different with the old ball coach even having some “Bruce Pearlish” moments showing great hops on the sidelines. Does the team feed off of him or do you think it’s the other way around?

Matt: I think coach fed off of our excitement more. I was trying to pump the crowd up and was yelling and I also think our offensive runs we had gave him something to be excited about.

SORSN: The team travels to Oakdale Friday night before a stretch of home games during the Christmas break; including a big matchup with Harriman. In your own opinion, how well is the team playing right now and what do you all need to do in order to continue to win ball games?

Matt: We are playing very well right now. We can certainly get better. But don’t be surprised when we beat Harriman Tuesday.

SORSN: Answer the following:
Favorite pre-game meal.
Matt: 10 piece, 2 McDoubles, a sweet tea, and an Oreo Mcflurry from McDonalds.

What is your current go-to song to get you pumped?
Matt: Good Night by Roscoe Dash

Thanks for your time Matt and good luck on the 2nd half of the season.
