Pick Panel Chimes In…..doubts among Green fans?

For the opener, the Midway offense and defense were firing on all cylinders. Woody & Beason connected multiple times in the air, running back Tanner Seymour ran through tackles, and the big men upfront removed everyone wearing a different color jersey from the scene on both sides of the ball. This Friday, the Waves load up the big yellow Twinkie and head to Whitwell. Last year, the teams scored more points than a high school basketball game with Midway holding on to a 53-50 win. Whitwell also picked up a big win in their opener against Mt. Juliet Christian and Whitwell football is the talk of the Sequatchie valley area. Who will move to 2-0 this Friday? Let’s ask our panel of experts.

Barry Narramore:
Nice win for the Green last Friday. I was impressed with the play of our younger players also. Glad they got on the field in the opening game and played well. Mason Woody was solid at QB and the Seymour kid at running back was punishing people all night. Defense didn’t give up a first down in the 1st half if I remember right. Brandon Patterson led the defense in tackles. And let’s not forget that Narramore kids open field tackle on the fake punt. All in all very impressive opening game.

This week will be a tougher test. Whitwell appears on film to have a solid team. Whitwell is gonna try to run the ball down our throats but I doubt they’ve seen the likes of Midways front line of Hester, Crabtree, Patterson, and Colyer. It won’t be easy but I like the Midway Greenwaves by 2 TD’s.

Ralton Emory:
Great win for the Waves last Friday night. And while teams such as Alcoa may have played twice as many games as the mighty Waves by the end of week 1, I feel the Waves are in a good spot.

This week’s game could be a great indication of how the season will go. Can we control the line of scrimmage, pound the rock, and wear down the opponent in the latter portion of the game? If so, we win. If not, we don’t. Simple formula.

I fear the drive will hinder our efforts.

Kyle Canup:

Think it’ll be a shoot-out but hopefully one that matches last week. Glad to see the offense is playing wide open and the line is doing what we all expected. Midway in an exciting one.

Steven Sears:

Last season’s matchup against the Whitwell Tigers was an offensive shootout with Midway pulling out a 53-50 win. Both Midway and Whitwell had impressive wins last Friday, but both came from weaker opponents. Midway will have their hands full this week traveling to a hungry Tiger offense. I’m looking for Midways defense to step up this week to tame the Tiger offense. The offense better keep doing what they do and produce big numbers. Buckle down defense and I see no reason why you all can’t pull out a sound victory. I’m taking Midway again this week. Midway 28 Whitwell 16.

Amber Johnson:

The Waves will come back from the road 2-0. I think this will be a closer contest with the Waves over Whitwell by 7.

Michael Rose:

Midway.
