SORSN Pick Panel Game 5: Midway @ Sunbright

It took just 3 snaps last Friday night before Midway got called for their first of many penalties on the night in the 35-13 loss to Coalfield.  And while the game was much closer than the final score indicates, most agree that the team isn’t playing to their potential. Turnovers and drive-killing penalties has been too much for Midway to overcome these last 2 weeks. But this past Friday we did see glimpses of just how good the Midway defense can be and it was the defense that kept them in the game. Peyton Steele had a SportsCenter Top 10 interception at the goal line to end a Coalfield drive in the first quarter. Midway defense also forced Coalfield to punt twice following good field position in the second quarter, keeping the game close at 14-7 Coalfield at the half. But the offense continues to sputter and will look to get back on track.

This week the Greenwave (2-2) hit the winding road to Sunbright to face the winless Tigers.  The Waves are still looking for their first region win and it’s expected to come courtesy of the Sunbright Tigers. Will the Panel go with the heavily favored Greenwave?

Ralton (4-0): The Greenwaves will get back on track this week against some declawed Tigers. And while the Green should win easily, I hope they take the opportunity to tighten up some of the areas that have been problematic and exposed during the recent losses. Stick to fundamentals, work on weaknesses, and stay humble.

Tigers 6

Tyson “AI” (2-2): Midway heads up the mountain this week for a face off with Sunbright. I predict that Midway will secure a decisive victory, building on their recent experience against Coalfield and capitalizing on Sunbright’s struggles, including their earlier bout with Rockwood. The Greenwaves need to focus on refining their fundamentals and addressing recent weaknesses, which will not only lead to their first region win but also strengthen their overall performance as they aim to regain momentum in the season.

Vols, I mean Waves 71 Tigers 0

Travis (3-1): Sunbright is the Kent State of high school football. Waves by fiddy.

Luke (2-2): The Greenwave gave the Coalfield Yellow Jackets a little bit of a scare last week, but in the end some early errors ended up being costly. This week Coach O’Toole and company find their self on the road at Sunbright. With Sunbright forfeiting in the 2nd quarter to Rockwood I am predicting Midway comes out with their first region win this week. Midway 49-0.
