SORSN Pick Panel: Game 6 vs Jellico

Midway (3-2) and Jellico (1-3) will be played on Saturday afternoon due to the weather. Midway is coming off an easy win over Sunbright which allowed Coach O’Toole to get a lot of his younger players some valuable minutes and giving his first team some rest.  How will the Waves handle an early morning road trip up I-75 to Jellico?  Let’s ask the Panel –

Ralton Emory (5-0): The mighty Waves travel to the indigo demons-not the Harriman variety demons, but the Jello demons-this Friday…I mean Saturday. With the massive amount of rain we’ve gotten, it could play havoc on the field conditions for footing and play (got to hang on to the ball). The Waves need to play fundamental football to win. I think that’s what will happen in this non-region contest. Waves 27 Jello demons 18

Luke Hall (3-2): Last years contest with Jellico was much closer than everyone anticipated. Peyton Steele caught a touchdown pass as time expired to win the game. After finding out this week that Jellico got a really nice turf field I became a little excited to make the trip to Jellico, so I used a little help with this weeks pick ‘em, and I called up assistant Coach Jason Devries. His only statement when I asked him what he thought about Jellico was “turf field, grass field, I don’t care if we play them in a baseball field. Waves by fiddy.” Greenwave 45 Jellico 6

Travis Jackson (4-1): Midway heads north to face a Jellico team with a 1-3 record. However, don’t underestimate them; the Blue Devils feature standout talent, especially with Samuel Profitt making an impact on both offense and defense. Midway will need to focus on containing Profitt while also adjusting their offense to avoid him on defense. The big green can be very explosive on offense if they are at full strength but we have seen too many big plays brought back due to penalties. If Midway can manage their penalties and keep a level head they should secure a victory. I predict a tough win for Midway, 28-16.

Tyson Canup (3-2): I asked ChatGPT what was going to happen in Friday nights matchup between the Greenwaves and Jellico. Response: “I don’t know, I haven’t seen a write up from SORSN.com in weeks”. I guess I’ll have to wing it. I’m betting Coach O’Toole this week. After a significant win at Sunbright last week his confidence will be up and he will give the boys in green the freedom they need to make big plays. I look forward to the waves to pull away early and the blue devils will struggle to catch up but eventually will. Last second field goal by the waves wins it. Midway 24- Jellico 21

Barry Narramore (3-2): Next up is Jellico, Midway has a good team if they quit shooting themselves in the foot. Looks like Jellico got a good win against Unaka last week, but that won’t be enough to make them a favorite to beat the Greenwaves. Midway by 25!
